NO REPLY FROM IMPERIAL AUTHORITIES. WELLINGTON, August 10. Tho Defence Minister stated to-night that the reply of tlie Imperial authorities to the oiler of two extra infantry battalions from New Zealand had not yet readied his hands. He had no doubt tli:> offer would be accepted. The Defence authorities are making the preliminary arrangements for the equipment of tJio extra battalions. It .is not known yet if special efforts will ba required to stimulate recruiting in order to fill tho ranks of the new force while at tlia same time maintaining, the normal reinforcement drafts.
