RUSSIAN REPORT.
SUCCESS IN THE NORTH-EAST; FIERCE FIGHTING AT KOVNO. ' PETROGRAD, August 10. An official statement says:—"North-- ! east of Wilcomiorz we dislodged berman advance guards from several villages, inflicting great loss. "'During the night of the 7th the eneuiy made renewed attacks on Jvovino ■-'There was an intense bombardment on the eighth by artillery of all calibres, including the heaviest, and extremely desperate attacks were made on our advanced positions. Tho assault against tho western front of ,Kovuo was evorywhero wpxilaecl with.enormous German "iossos."
