Lord Lansdowne pleaded with the Lords not to bring the machinery to a standstill, and said that, ho Idieved. the policy would be universally approved by. the country.
Lord Midleton, who is a memher of the Departmental Retrenchment Committee said he did not desire to reject the Bill, but he earnestly desired to re*' cast the Bill.
