(Received July 27, 9.5 a.m.) PETROGRAD, July 26, When \the Germans employed gas clouds on the Narew front,- ' the Russians rushed out to ;meet the -cloud, '< and dived through, holding wet' rags ;in their faces. They fell on the suri prised Germans, giving no quarter. The general mode of defence is to fill a 'shallow trench with brushwood soaked iin petroleum. When the gas approaches the petroleum is ignited, oarj rying np the poisonous gas.
