THE GOAL STRIKE.
COALOWNERS TO MEET MR RUNCIMAN. WHOLESALE DISLOCATION OF TRADE. (Received July 19, 8.15 a.m.) LONDON, July 18.' The despondency of the South Wales Miners' Executive is returning, despite its promise to meet Mr Runciman. The coalowners have hitherto left the affair in the hands of the Government, but have now arranged to meet Mr Runciman on Monday.
The miners' leaders have come to no decision regarding strike pay, the granting of which will be a serious matter for the union, in view of the Munitions Act. Wholesale dislocation of trade in the west is feared. .Several large works have already closed down, and if the strike continues till Wednesday, coal stocks will be depleted by' 1,000,000" tons. . There was unimportant rioting at Llanelly, and seven arrests were made.
