UNION
The usual weekly meeting of the Ashburton County Rugby Union was held last evenig. Mr F. B. Robilliard presided over a good. attendance of members.
The Rakaia Club wrote asking to have the match set down for July V.i against Southern Cross postponed till July 17.—1t was decided to ask the Southern Cross Club for an expression of opinion on the matter.
The referee (Mr S. Band) in the match Old Boys v. Southern Cross reported that he had refused to allow a player from tho Third Grade game then in progress to take part in tin 1 President's match.—The matter was held over pending a decision from the Canterbury Union.
Mr T. Turtill asked permission to withdraw the Southern Cross B Third Grade team from the competition.— Permission .was granted. •
The secretary was/"instructed 1 to ask the. referees to forward a written report of, each match.
Referees were appointed as follows:— Thursday, July I:—Presidents: Old Boys v. Rakaia, at Rakaia, Mr D. Friedlander. Third Grade: Southern Cross v. Ashburton, Mr S. Thomas.
