LAURISTON

Farewell and Presentation to Mr and Mrs A. Murray. ■. s Ou Tuesday evening last the members of the Lauriston Presbyterian. Sabbath School and a largo number oi friends met in the- schoolroom to say farewell to Mr and Mrs A. Murray and their family, who are leaving , the district. Mr T. Mitchell presided. • The Chairman spoke with regret of| the loss which the district would sustain by the. removal of Mr and Mrs Murray and family.from their midst,; and made special reference to Mr Mur-; ray's work in connection with the Sabbath School, of which ho had been Superintendent''for a period of about"! 15 years. Mr Mitchell asked the Rev. W. T. Todd, of llakaia, to make a presentation to Mr and Mrs Murray on behalf of their Lauriston friends.

Mr Tocid made an appropriate 1 speech,- in which he referred in eulogistic terms to the good work' done in the Sunday School by Mr Murray, as Superintendent and Mrs Murray as a teacher, expressed his regret, both on his own behalf and on behalf of "the congregation at losing Mr and Mrs Murray from the district, and said that their places both in the Church work and the Sunday School would be very hard indeed to fill. He then presented Mr ;:nd Mrs Murray with a handsome illuminated address as. a token of the regard find esteem in which they were held in the district. He added that the fact that the Lauriston Sabbath School had twice won the banner presented for Presbyterian Sunday Schools of under 50 pupils throughout New Zealand, was an eloquent testimony-, of ..the cx-r cellnnt results obtained under Mr Murray's supervision.

Mr .John Mooro, . junior, presented Mis* Murray and Miss Greta Murray with a gold bangle and pendant respectively as :i token of recognition of the.ir work us teachers in tho Sabbath School.

Mr "W. (Joodwin also referred - in oulogistic terms to the good qualities of tho departing guests.

Mr Murray, on his own behalf and on behitil- of his family, thanked the donors for their p;ifis and tho many kind tiling which had been said about hiiwlf nt)d his family.
