FOOTBALL.
ASHBURTON COUNTY UNION.
The weekly meeting of the Ashburton County Rugby Union was held last evening. Mr D. Friedlander presided. Mr Freidlander reported having interviewed the Methven Club, and having found that they had no prdspects of taking part in any football this year. The matches set down for June 10 vero postponed till the end of the season. The following referees were appointed :—.President's Cup: Rakaia v. Southern Cross on Wednesday, June 16, Mr D. Friedlander. Third grade: Southern Cross B. y. Southern Cross A. on Thursday, June 17, Mr S.. Thomas; High School v. Ashburton (same date), Mr D. Friedlander.
