THE ALLIES ATTACKING.
SUCCESS ON THE YSER CANAL
PARIS, May 31. An official statement says:—"On the. right bank of the Yser Canal wa carried the whole of . the German trenches on Hill 17 in the Pilken regioii, capturing 50 ' prisoners and three quick-firers.
"A violent artillery duel in the sector north of Arras. We attacked a great German work known as 'the labyrinth,' ■■south-reasit" of Neuville-Stv Vaast. The : action was. hot, and we progress<xl 400 metres and made many prisoners. "We carried more trenches in the Bois-le-Pretre, an<J repulsed an attack on the Schnepfoxirieth Range , (in Alsace), and captured one of the enemy's trenches." .•■•■'.-•
