TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —I was surprised to read in your issue of Saturday last, above the signatures of four of our well-known sports (?) the letter addressed by them to the racing clubs of Canterbury, asking that Mr Hugo Friedlander should be ousted from his position as delegate to the Racing Conference.
I think the fact that he was born of Polish parents, in a country whose downfall was one of the blackest pages in European history, and:. that he has proved himself for many years a loyal British subject, is an additional reason why he should bo treated with the true principles of fair play. I hope, at the annual meeting of the Ashburton Racing Club, that the committee will receive the censure it deserves, for its Pharisaical attitude. TOLERANT SPORT. '
