WEST COAST DETACHMENT.
ANTI-MILITARIST'S FRANK ; STATEMENT.
GREYMOUTH, May 29
An extra regiment of men left this morning, including a number of coal miners from Blackball, .also from n small: mine ivear Reefton, -whence seven of the nine employees have left. The latter mine is temporarily closed. The party also includes four brothers, a fifth being already at the Dardanelles.
A notable feature of last night'p farewell was a speech by Harold Ernest Denton, who stepped from the ranks ami said he had fought hard against compulsory military, training, but the country was now up against the intrigue of Germany ami her system of conscription; they (the antimilitarists) had to get out honourably-., and were now going to the front voluntarily.
