A HAVEN OF REFUGE.

Everyone .should help (says the London "Daily Graphic")'; and that is the thought which has inspired the directors of the International Gorrtfeporidence Schools in .Kingsway, who, as befits their name, have lent for the Belgian refugees the buildings and grounds of' Highfield, at Golder's Green. In this building have been established 50 children or" the City Orphanage, of ruined Malines, and these hapless little gqests are surely one of the most pathetic testimonies of the devastation of their country. For four weeks they were travelled hither and thither before thcty and their governors reached safety and shelter, travelling by way of Holland to London. The bouse at Goldfieldwas lent by the International Correspondence Schools in thci first place to the Mother Superior of the La Sagesse j Convent. The orphans spend their timei in house duties, in sewing, mending, and knitting themselves clothes, j and in a great many. ways, trying to ; make both ends meet. i In the same house are some Sisters from the Convent of Maricole at Malines, who also lost their all in the sack of the place., In the tffort to help their unfortunate country people some of the Sistrs have gone back to brave the rigours of a starved country. Several Belgian refugee families besides are quartered in the establishment and are waiting an opportunity of refairninfT to their country. Th.€<y, too,' have lost everything, and trust entirely to the good offices of the English people' to tide them over their present troubles. . The home is not dependent on any special funds for gerirfral relief of refugees, but is supported altogether by private subscriptions. This is one of the very many cases in, which much good work is done unostentatiously, and gifts of food, clothing ond wool would be of service to an excellent cause:.
