CHRISTCHUROHi May 6. "When the engineer's report was being considered at this morning's meeting of the Lyttelton -Harbour Board, Dr.Thacker rose and asked the chairman ito request Messrs T. D. Dr. Thacker: That means, then, that the Board endorses these statements- as correct. Messrs Boag and Storry were members, of the Board right up to the time of their re-election. Mr J. Storry said he was not aware that any such statement as Dr. Thacker referred to had ever been made in his advertisements. The chairman said it was not a mat-; ter in which he could interfere. He knew nothing about it. Dr. Thacker: You know all about it. I reckon it is a scandalous thing to be allowed at all. The Chairman: That is a. question of taste. Dr. Thacker: It is not a question of taste at all. I am going to obtain a legal opinion on the matter, and those who made these statements .may see the wisdom of withdrawing them. Mr J. J. Dougall said there was no question that the statements complained of by Dr. Thacker had been published
