DARING HOLD-UP.
BIRTHDAY PARTY ROBBED.
BY ARMED AND 'MASKED MEN

SYDNEY, May 5. This morning's hold-up at Darlinghurst was the-most sensational for years^ It occurred at I,o'clock. About 20 persons were in the house celebrating the birthday of one of the family. Suddenly a tall masked man entered, presented a revolver and demanded, "Hands up!"
The party was staggered. The masked man then whistled and tjvree others appeared.
The owner' of tho house entered a protest, but was .silenced by cursing men who pushed their revolvers into his face.
The party stood in a semicircle "and the intruders calmly went thro.ugh their pockets and stole £600 in money and jewellery;. One of tlie guests attempted to escape by a door, but the robbers promptly fired a revolver, bringing him to a standstill.
After clearing out the party the men backed through the door, - still threatening with their revolvers, boarded a motor-car and decamped.
Later the detectives arrested David Keenahan, aged 25, who is charged with assaulting and robbing one of the guests. He was remanded on bail cf £1600.
