PAINTERS MAY STRIKE.
There is every possibility that the next unionists' strike will be by the painters.' A special meeting will take place on Monday, and a ballot on the question of ceasing work forthwith will be taken.
TJnder the current award painters are paid Is 4d an hour, and signwriters Its 6d. They want increases to Is 6d and Is 7d. • In view of Mr Justice Heydon's decision that the iron trades case award cannot be re-opened, the painters practically have resolved on what they can do to gain increases.
