Lord Roberts, in a letter, argues that Mr Asquith is inconsistent in welcoming physical improvement derivable from military drill of youths between 14 and 18, while opposing further physical training for half the population between 18 and 21.
Lord Roberts quotes statistics as to the improvement in physique of Continental armies since the introduction of compulsion.
