SPEECH BY HON. JAMES ALLEN
HASTINGS, February 16. The Hon. Jas. Allen visited Te Atite Native College and the Native District High School this afternoon. In the evening he addressed a crowded meeting at Hastings. His speech was mainly a review of the work done by the_ Go- ! vernment and a reply to Opposition criticism. Most of the subjects were dealt with on the lines of the Ministers. previous statements that have already been published: The Minister devoted considerable, time in replying to interjections. At the conclusion he was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence by a large majority. Mr Allen visits the schools at Hastings and Napier, and formally opens the Napier West School in the afternoon.
