FIRE IN INVERCARGILi:
INVEUCARGILL, February 10.
A fire broke out this evening in the old Imperial Hotel in Tay Street, now used as a boarding-house. It contained 28 rooms, and was owned by the trustees of Ihe late T. Whit taker, andwas'occupied by Win. Smith.. The fire ; brigade soon had the flames under control, but the house and furniture were .practically destroyed. The house and furniture were insured for £600 in the Commercial Union and for £250 each in the New Zealand and Sun Office.
