MEETINGS.
ASKBURTON W.C.T.U
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Ashburton W.G.T.U. was held in the Baring Square Schoolroom on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs W. K. Watson occupied the chair. Mrs McCombs (president of the Christchurch Union) wrote expressing the thanks of the visiting delegates for the kindly hospitality shown them at the Convention by the members and friends of ihe Ashburton District Union. ■ v ■ , • Mrs Jansen (Superintendent of Scientific Temperance Department) wrote suggesting that all assistance possible be secured from ministers and laymen for the more effective working of Temperance Sunday in November. —It was resolved to act in accordance with instructions.
Correspondence was dealt with, and "business relative to the working of the Union was transacted.
Several accounts were passed for payment. . .
It was resolved that a letter of sympathy be forwarded to Miss A. C. Watson in her recent bereavement, also to Mrs W. T. Lill in her unfortunate accident.
An interesting discussion arose on the problem of domestic gconomy, in which several took part, and the meeting terminated in the usual way.
