The Women's Spiritual Militancy League has issued a manifesto demanding the Government to introduce - a Bill revising the marriage service, and removing the humiliations placed upon women: They urge the omission of the word "obey" in the giving'away ceremony ,_ and also that the -.exhortation to wives to " submit yourselves," 1 etcetra, should be accompanied ' by "husbands submit," etcetra. Demonstrations prevented suffragette meetings at Hyde Park, Hampstead Heath, and Wimbledon. Seven men were arrested for throwing orange peel and turf at speakers.
