AUCKLAND, November 7. The Auckland Rugby Union approved a suggestion that the English Rubgy Union be asked to authorise amendments to the rules from time to time, necessary irr the interests of the game in New Zeland, with a proviso disapproving of alterations of the- rules regarding professionalism. The proposed amendment of rule 48 is regarded with some suspicion as preparing the way for cutting the painter, but was approved when safeguarded by a qualification in regard to professionalism. The Auckland Cricket Association, which recently purchased Eden Park, agreed to lease it to the Rugby Union for 21 years. Eden Paris is centrally situated, and will probably give Rugby a fresh impetus.
