A STEAMER ASHORE.
(Per Press Association.)
WHANGAREI, November 7. The Union Company's steamer Rosamond went ashore at 5.20 this morning on an island in Whangarei Harbour, when negotiating the channel to the limestone and cement works. At midday she was high and dry, and an endeavour will be made to refloat her to-night at high water. She will probably be compelled to wait for the spring tide. Another steamer is assisting to pull lier off. No damage is known to have been done to the Rosamond.
