CONVERTIBLE CRUISERS

The Government has proposed that the Chamber of Deputies shall grant a subsidy of £20,000,000, spread over twenty-five years, to the Messageries Maritimes Company and the. Societe d'Etudes de Navigation, for mail and other, services to the Far East, Australia, East Africa, Brazil and the River Plate, the bulk of the money to be devoted, to the construction of nineteenknot steamers convertible into auxiliary cruisers.
