CHRISTCHUROH, December 5>6. The twenty-sixth annual lawn tennis championships of New Zealand were commenced on Saturday at Lancaster Park in dry, but threatening weather. Recent x%ains had -inado the new courts heavy and dull, and play was on the slow side. There iy-3re no very attractive games in the dra.v, but there was quite enough to interest the spectators.
