WILLOWBY.

Sunday School Anniversary. The anniversary services m connection with the Willowby Methodist Sunday School were held on Sunday last, Mr W. J. Brown of Ashburton occupied the pulpit both morning and evening, and preached two thoughtful and instructive sermons suitable to the occasion. The children, who had been, specially trained by Mr G. H. B. Lill, rendered several hymns and anthem.* m 'a-very creditable manner. It is to be regretted that the very mclcmeao state of the weather militated somewhat against the attendance. The collections" for the day were m aid of Viv school funds, and.were of a liberal nature. The annual tea. meeting was hell m the schoolroom on Thursday cveni <4 % when the attendance was satisfactory. The tea was followed by a public met-i-I ing m the church. The Rev. B. J. James presided, and addresses were delivered by the chairman and Mr S.S Chapman, and a-number of hymn.--, and anthems were successfully rendered by the children, under the baton of Mr Lill. Not the least pleasng part of ] the meeting was -the rendering of several choruses and action songs by o number of little girls, who had been efficiently trained by Mrs James. The Superintendent reported favo i ably on the work of the school during the past year, and bespoke the hearty co-opera-tion of the parents. Prizes for work done during the year were distributed by Mr James, and after the usual votes of thanks, the meeting was closed by the chairman pronouncing the Benediction.
