PRESENTATIONS.

Mr D. C. Mills, who has been connected, with the teaching staff of thej Rampstead School for three years, and is about to undergo a course of training at, the Christchurch Training School, was presented, at the Theatre Royal last evening, with a travelling rug by the teaching staff and the scholars, as a memento of the good feeling towards him and; the esteem m which he was held. -Mf'J.'.B. Borthwick, m mating the presentation, said that Mr- Mills had been on the staff for a considerable time, and had done very good work. They were sony to lose him r but were pleased to know that the change would be to his own advantage. He had performed his duties m an admirable manner, and even outside the school had taken a great interest m ther recreations and welfare of. the children. The presentation represented the good feeling and good wishes of the late Headmaster, Mr McLeod, as well as those of the present staff and the scholars. At,the Baring Square Church practice on .Friday evening, Mrs TV. J. ; Elliott, President of the Ladies' Glee ; Club, said she had been asked by the 1 members to ask the conductor or the : choir, Mr H. A. Humphreys, to accept | from thu Club a handsome dressing- ■ case, as an evidence of its appreciation lof his services as conductor. Mrs | Elliott spoke m high terms of the good 1 work done by the Club, and of Mr 'Humphreys' careful oversight of the improvements and furnishings supplied to the rostrum and pulpit. Mr Humphreys, who was completely surprised by the Club's acceptable gift, very suitably replied. During the course of the choir practice at' the Baring Square Church on Friday evening,, the Rev.. W. J. Elliott, who was present, said he had been asked by the choir to make a small presentation to Miss Lily Bonnington on the eve of her marriage. He referred to her acceptable service,, always cheerfully- rendered,' the respect and esteem m which she was held by members^ of the choir, and voiced their good wishes for a happy future. He then handed Miss Lily Bonnington a beautiful oak tray, as a token of the choir's appreciation and affection. At a social held by the Ashburton .Comedy "Glut m the Somerset Hotel i last evening Mrs E. G. Crisp, who has taken a very deep interest m the club and has been of great assistance to it, s was presented by the members rath a silver-topped smelling-salts bottle. Miss E. M. Branigan, business manager, for the club, m" making the presentation, acknowledged the' club s indebtedness to Mrs Orisp m suitable terms. On the same- .occasion Mr I. S Crisp, on behalf of the members, presented Miss Buchanan with a set of silver and enamel blouse buttons. Mr Crisp m doing so made a very humorous and appropriate;? speech.
