""""■ INVERCARGILL, December 21. A cable message from Hobart to Mr Joseph Hatch, the owner, stattfs that the schooner Clyde was wrecked! at the Macquaries. . All hands, were saved, and returned to Hobart by the ■ Antarcr tic tender \vessel Torpa, which also brought up 389 casks of oil: The Clyde was purchased > m Wellington last August, and was on her first trip to the Macquaries. She was not insured, and the loss, coming immediately after the wreck of the J^sie Nicol, is very unfortunate for the owner. Captain W. Smith was m command. An inquiry has been opened at Hobart. MELBOURNE, December 22. The steamer Toroa, which accompanied the Mawson Expedition to the Macquarrie Islands, has returned. She brought the crew of the schooner Clyde, recently wrecked at the islands, which was owned by Mr Hatch, of Invercargill, the lessee of the Macquarrie Islands.
