ATTACK ON A JUDGE.
LONDON, December 9. Thomas Field, a burglar undergoing trial at' .Birmingham, hurled a .stool and smashed Mr Justice Ridley's desk, wounding the Judge in the face and knocking off his wig and spectacles. He alleged that he intended to. strike 'a; witness, whom the prisoner further threatened. .Re was sentenced to five years, besides completing aiitinexpired sentence of fifteen months.
