GENEEAL ELECTION.

Mr John McLachlan has been in Ashburton for several days, renewing old friendships and generally viewing the aspect of things in connection with the coming general election. He has now left for the more southerly portions of the electorate. Mr P. Ke.egan, a farmer, of Whakatane, has been selected as the Government candidate to contest the Tauranga seat against Mr Herries.
