CHRISTCHURCH DAY BY DAY.
As instancing the vast ue© of petrol by motorists, Professor W. P. Evan6, in the course of his lecture at Canterbury College last evening on "Chemistry and the Motor-Car," stated that in' 1909, the actual amount of petrol sent from America had been 40,0U0,000 tons.
Two squads of the St. John Ambulance Brigade visited the Riccarton races yesterday and attended to three accidents —two cases of concussion and one of fractured' collar-bone. One of tho' cases of concussion was removed to tho hospital.
At a meeting of tho North Canterbury Education Board on Wednesday, Mr M. Dalziel was elected chairman for the ensuing year. The resignation of Mrs J. A. Graham, mistress at Highbank, was accepted.
