THE FREEZING COMPANIES regret having to draw attention to 'the condition in which many lines of sheep and lambs-are sent to saleyards and Freezing Works, owing to the growers having neglected to have same properly dagged or cnitched. This matter is a serious one, as it not only affects the animal in a live state, but also prevents the carcases from being dressed with the finish and cleanliness which are an absolute necessity for placing them on the Home Market to the best advantage. In spite of every care, stains are Ixmnd to disfigureV such carcases, and no amount of wiping down will remedy this condition, as they cannot avoid, in many cases, injuring the pelts and so incurring fines. In view of the reasonable remonstrances' of tho slaughtermen against being compelled to kill daggy sheep and lambs, and also of tho considerable discredit and monetary loss occasioned by the necessarity imperfect dressing of such carcases, WE hereby give notice on behalf of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Coy., Ltd., and The Christchurch Meat Coy., Ltd., that any such sheep will be drafted at the Works and rejected.
