. OHRISTCHIIRCH, August-. 9. There were only small entries of £tock, and a fair attendance. .Beef sold even more briskly than last week. Fat. sheep showed a rise of 2s to 8s per head, though show sheep did not realise prices equal to those > of the previous week. The few fat- hoggets in also sold c well. Store hoggeits recovered from the 'decline of fast week, and other classes sold well. Pigs showed some improvement, but there was not much demand for. cattle. The yarding of store sheep was much smaller than last week and comprised mixed lines of ewes and' hoggets and a few pens of wethers. There was a good demand for all classes, and hoggets, which showed a falling off in values last week, sold up to the prices previously ruling", the finer weather no doubt improving the demand. ,-Severel lots cf ewes failed to find buyers at the prices masked.i Wethers if anything were firmer.l ' ■ ;Sheep.—-T'Ke range of ( prices wasl —.' iiwe'■ hoggets,- 12s to ISs; smair haifi>reds, •. 14s 2d ; average lines of 'mix-; ■<nd v'Sexes, lls to , lls 6d; smaller, 8/s; to :10s; 3d; wether hoggets, to 12s 4d;; four six and eight-tooth crossbred &wes, 17s;''"half-bred same ages, r 15s M ti6 17s; sound mouth, 10s 6dto'l3s; two-tooth halfbreds,' to 17s;' - good eight-tooth, 15s ;■ medium quality wethers, 13s; lOd to 14s sd. . I'nere was a' very small entry of fat sheep including a few lots of show wethers. ! There was a keen demand on the part of butchers, and -prices advanced 2s to 3s per head on the last week's rat^s. The show sheep, however,' did not sell so well as last week, as the high prices then paid •were to meet the special demand for the Grand National' week's trade.
