OHRISTOHURCH, March 13. - The final match, between Rangitikei and Southland was commenced at Hagley Park, m brilliant weather, on an excellent wicket, to-day. Southland won the toss, and oik'iied with Bannernian and "Watkins. The former hit freely,, Imt the latter played steady cricket; iii.lil Broad bowled him. ■At-^-I —ll, Hamilton opened vigorously, and the second wicket added 70 before Bannerman stepped out to Orton, aud was stumped. 107 2—40 [ Crocket was next man, but was'bowled a dozen i;mis later. 119—3—2 Kavanagh joined Hamlton, whose play was free, though not faultless. Runs came very freely. At 180 Kavanagh was badly missed, and the second century was soon hoisted. Hamilton reached his 100 almost simultaneously. The Rangitikei bowlhi" was collared. At 227 Hamilton got his lw before one from Broad, 227—4— 110. Pople was out similarly at once, but Kavanagh continued to score. 235—6—0. Scores : Southland. First Innings.
