FIRES.

NELSON, March 1. The Takaka Times Office, owned by Mr E. Cann, with the plant, machinery and stationery stock, was destroyed by lire this morning. All had been left safe the previous evening. The origin of the fire is unknown, and the loss over the insurance is large. WELLINGTON, March 1. A fire early this morning considerably damaged a boardinghouse owned by J. Dalrymple and occupied by J. Knigge. Several of the boarders had narrow escapes, some being cut in .jumping through windows. The building was insured for £300 in the Queensland Office and for £200 in the Commercial Union. ■ The furniture was insured for £50.
