lows: ■■ i ■ x ■ j "In presenting the annual report and balance sheet for the year, ended 31st December, 1910, the committee desires to thank contributors to the Society s funds and special prizes, and also members for their generous support and valuable assistance rendered during the past year. By referring to the balance sheet, it will be seen that the society is in a very satisfactory position, having a credit balance ot i-dD los to the Trophy Fund account, and a' credit of 2s 8d to the General account (£l3 having been spent from the latter account during the year in sendin «■ a team of birds to Granity to compete for the South Island Poultry Association's shield. During the year four of the Society's trophies to the value of £12 12s were won right out. Ihe Seventh Combined Winter show held in conjunction with the Ashburton A. and P. Association in June last was again a great success, the profit resultin" therefrom being £6 2s 7d. In June last the committee decided to isend a team of birds to Granity to I compete for the South Island Association's Inter-Club Challenge Shield, Messrs T. E. Upton, T. O'Carroll, and E Parkin placing their birds at the Society's disposal, and Mr W. H. Amos was appointed to take charge of them for the trip. The result was most gratifying, Ashburton easily winning the shield, while Mr Upton secured a valuable cup for the best bird in the show. The expense incurred by the society in gaining the shield should ensure a record entry for the 1911 show, and this will thereby repay the society in many ways. The breeds competing for the shield are Golden Wyandottes, Black Leghorns, Pile Game Bantams, and Pekin ducks, and it is pleasing to know that Ashburton will be well represented- in each of these breeds, so kindred societies will not easily win tne shield." . , , The balance sheet was also read, and this, with the annual report, was adopted. .
