RAKAIA RACING CLUB.

(From our Reporter.) (By Telegraph.) RAKAIA, December 16. The Itakaia Racing Club held its annual meeting m the Rakaia Domain to-day m line weather. The club has always conducted its meetings m a creditable manner, and for to-day the usual preparations had been made for the pleasure and convenience of patrons. The Domain is well adapted by nature for a race meeting, the natiiral elevation running along the northern end atoning for the absence of a grandstand, and from this vantage ground, where the trees afford shelter from the sun, the races can be watched m all the important stages The attendance, despite the number of counter attractions, was most satisfactory, and the events, which proved interesting, and m some cases exciting, were watched with enthusiasm. The racing track was m good order. -During the afternoon the Ashburton County Brass Band played a number of selections, and generally the day passed off well.
