When seen with reference to the English cable, Arnst told a Mail reporter that ho was somewhat disappointed at Barry not being prepared to put up a side wager, but he was more than satisfied with the £300 expenses offered. He is. considering his reply, but is unable to decide definitely for some days. ■ I WAKAPTJAKA, December 15. Arnst is visiting Cable Bay to-day, j Speaking of the offer cabled this morning he stated that he could not say whether he would 1 accept until ho had consulted his backers. Personally, he did not consider the inducement offered sufficient. ; (The following is the cable message referred to: LONDON, December 14. , Arnst asks £250 expenses and a side wager of £500, besides a prize of £1000. Nickalls, Sullivan, and Blackstaffe have decided that the side wager is unreasonable, but offer £300 for expenses.)
