METHVEN, THURSDAY, DEC. 9.
(Before Messrs W. J. Dickie, H. Ward and H. H. Sharplin, Justices). The case of Police v. John Ross, William Norman Bruce and Walter Walsh, charged with behaviour calculated to create. a breach of the peace at the Methven Public. Hall, on the 29th of October last, which was adjourned from last Court day, was concluded.
A second charge of using iudece'nt language was preferred against Bruce, for whom Mr Alpers, of Christchurch, appeared. Boss did not appear. After evidence for the police had been given, the charge of using indecent language against Bruce <■ was withdrawn, with the consent of the Bench. The two accused then pleaded guilty to "the first charge. The Bench convicted all the defendants, and fined, each. 40s and costs. Civil business: J. Newman y. J. O'Sullivan, claim 19s, for trap hire.— Judgment for plaintiff, by default, with, costs. Methven Hall Company, Ltd., v. 'J. McLennan, claim £8 15s for calls on shares. —Judgment for plaintiffs, with costs, by default. Mr R. Kennedy appear for plaintiff in each case. '
