BICYCLE ROAD RACE.
Per Press Association. NELSON, September 29. The cycle road race from Nelson to i Belgrove and back, a distance of 50 miles, to select a representative for the! Timaru to Christchurch road race, took place to-day m unfavourable weather conditions, rain falling throughout the journey and making the roads slippery. Seventeen started, the winner being L. Franklyn, whose actual riding time was 2 hours 56 minutes. A Stewart second m 2 hours 57 minutes 18 seconds, and W. Jack third m 3 hours 16 minutes 49 seconds. Six riders finished. Franklyn and Stewart will be sent to Christchurch.
