THE DAVIS CUP.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 29. Australia and New Zealand have now come to a deadlock over the Davis Cup contest. There has been considerable correspondence between the two governing bodies since the resignation of New Zealand from the Australian Council. New Zealand gave way on several points, and there was every prospect of the breach being healed. Australia, however, was not satisfied and insisted that New Zealand must rejoin the Australasian Association; but this New Zealand has declined to do. It is stated that tin less some arrangement is come to within the next few days the New Zealand Association will probably take steps to enforce its claims.
