SUCCESSFUL BEE-KEEPING.

Among the industries m Canada which offer a good living to the young emigrant with a capital of £200 or so is that of bee-keeping. The fruitgrowing provinces (remarks Canada) are all adapted to the keeping of bees, and m Ontario the industry is profitably pursued by many. There are m the Province 200,000 hives, and about 8,000,000 pounds of honey of very fine quality are produced annually. British Columbia, a province noted for its wealth of.blossom, also produces large quantities of honey every year. The industry is now being developed m the West, where perhaps one of the oldest, most extensive, and successful bee-keepers was the late Mr James Duncan, of Emerson, who produced m one year 14,000 pounds of honey. At Selkirk a farmer with fifty colonies produces 2300 pounds a year, for which a ready market m the town is found. At Carlyle, Sask., m the Moose Mountain district,- an enthusiastic beekeeper has had splendid success, and has acquired a strong faith m the possibility of his neighbourhood as a honey-producing locality. His apiary at present numbers seventy colonies, and his summer's harvest of honey amounted to some 3800 pounds. Another apiary m four years yielded about 9000 pounds, 4000 pounds of which was obtained m one season.
