FIRE INSURANCE IN LONDON.

The fire insurance companies transacting business m the Administrative County of London have to contribute towards the expense of maintaining the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, at the rate of £35 per million sterling of insurance. The contributions' for 1909 are based on the amounts insured on December 31, 1907. The total amount of insurance is £1,055,200, 172, and the total amount, of the. contribution •is £36,931 13s lid.
