THE NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
PALMERSTON NORTH, Juno 22. The National Dairy Show was opened to-day. The weather was fine, and there was a large attendance, representative of the dairying community. The entries this year were considerably m advance of previous years, with the sole exception of fat stock, which shows a falling-off numerically. The show was officially opened by 4 the Hon T. Mackenzie, the Minister of Agriculture, who congratulated the Association on the great strides made, and said that he had learned from Mr D. Cuddie, the Dairy Commissioner, that the dairy classes were of high order and Quality, and that he was thoroughly satisfied with them. The judging commenced at an early hour m the morning. The championship m apples, open to the whole dominion, was won' by Mr Gushing (Clivo), with Mr J. W. Mayo (Palmorston) second, and the Stoke Fruit-growers' Aossociation (Nelson) third. Twenty entries were received from different parts of the dominion.
