THE VETERINARY SCHOOL.
To the Editor. Sir,—l understand that there are m this district a few.young men who are studying with the intention of qualifying for the veterinary profession, if facilities are offered for such qualification m New Zealand. It may not be generally known that the professional matriculation —i.e., the medical preliminary, and not the ordinary matriculation examination—is the entrance door to the veterinary course. You were good enough to publish a 1 clipping from an Otago paper upon this subject a few days ago. Will you please publish the encjosed letter which Mr Nosworthy has handed to me with his permission to pass it on to you if I so thought fit. I would like to add that Mr Nosworthy has been very industrious m this matter since I had the privilege of bringing it under his notice some few months ago. W. T. KINGSTON. ,
University of Otago, Dunedhi, June 15th, 1909. Wm. Nosworthy, Esq., Wakare, Mount Somers. i Re Veterinary School. Dear Sir, —Your letter of sth April has taken a long time to answer, but at last I think I can say that the Veterinary School is about to be definitely established m Dunedin. We are now m a position' to say to i ntending students that we can give them the first year's course of one year, and m a short time hope to be able to give them the whole course for the veterinary degree. We regret that it has taken so long to tell you this, but trust these facts which I am now able to give you will show you that the Council has not been idle during the past few months. The Government wish us to proceed on aveterinary course without delay, and we hope the new Veterinary School building will be shortly commenced.— Your obedient servant, W. A. Mason, Registrar.
