COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENTS.

The following regulations under the Factories Act, 1908, prescribing the form of statement of procedure required to be observed m order to claim compensation for accidents have been gazetted: The occupier of every factory shall at all times cause to be exhibited and maintained m some conspicuous place at or near the entrance of the factory, and m such other parts thereof as the Inspector from time to time directs, and m such position as to -be easily read by the persons employed m the factory, a statement m the folowing form: • , Statement showing the procedure tor ' the purpose of claiming compensation under "The Workers Compensation Act, 190^': 1. Notice of accident.—Section 24: To' be m writing arid served on the employer, or one of them, if there are more than one, by delivering or posting it m a registered letter as soon as practicable, giving—(l) Name and address of person injured; (2) cause of injury, and (3) date and place thereof. (Notice is not required m case of the death of the worker). 2. Claim for compensation.—Section 21: If the claim is not settled by agreement, proceedings miist be commenced by the issue of a writ of summons I y the worker (Form No. 3), or, m the case of death, by his representative en behalf of the dependants, or by the dependants, or any one or more of them on behalf of all of them, m accorli-ioo with the regulations. Section 25.—Action must m commenced within six months alter tho ■date of accident, or, m case .jf death, within six months after date of O.e,\i'h, or if any payment of compensation or damages is made by the empb ?.?r, ci if he signs an admission of li'al >l;ty, action may be commenced within s^x months from the date thereof.
