Mr Mclntosh said that this was news to North Canterbury farmers. Men at the threshing machines found the old bag the handiest, and it was preferred by the men at the railway stations, and by carters. Was the farinin- industry to be hampered by wharf lumpers who.had only to send the basis down into the shoots ? He thought it. was time that a strong protest wns made by the . farmers. The chairman said that the time was opportune for a. iirotest. He would liko to know if the merchants'nn id out to the farmers on such weights as those quoted. A committee was. appointed to -ih-aw up -a letter to the Minister of Labour a copy to be sent to the Hon. D. Buddo, member for the district.
