MILLERS' ASSOCIATION.

Per Press Association. DTJNEDIN, June 18. It is reported that since the begin-, ning of the month some flour millers who refused to sign the Association s agreement have been selling direct to bakers in large quantities, at_ prices below the Association's tariff. Outside mills at Oamaru and Timaru are said to be selling at 5s below the Association's prices. ■ Some people predict that the Association will conic to an end within the next few weeks, but others claim that an agreement will, ■ultimately be arrived at. . OAMARU, June 19.;... The suggestion made a Dunedin Press Association telegram that the Oamaru mills outside the Milling Association are selling at prices 5s below, those set by the Association would seem to lack foundation. In fact, two local mills now out —Clark Bros, and Ireland and Lander —are both out 'because they considered their outputs greater than they were given credit for by the Association; but there has been no cutting; for the reason, principally that Oamaru flour can command the best price. It is not considered likely here by some millers that the new agreement will bo adopted for a. considerable time to come, as the firms now out will remain out until the next season at least, owing to the contracts that have been entered into.

A Timaru miller was seen last night, and asked by a Herald reporter whether there was any truth in the suggestion that Timaru millers were selling at cutting rates. The miller said that so far as he was concerned there was certainly no truth in it and ho did not think that either of the other two local millers had reduced prices. ,
