INDIAN DEPORTATIONS.

Received June 19, 8.20 a.m. - LONDON, June 18. Rearing in* the House of Commons to Messrs Lynch, Wedgwood, Mackarness and others, Mr Asquith firmly upheld the Government of India's action in cbnnection with the deportatios, and declared that the Imperial Government would not countenance any attempts to amend the regulation of 1818. Any effort to mitigate its strictness would, he said, deprive it of its' value as a deterrent under a less effective instrument against - anarchical terrorist conspiracy. He warned his questioners that by constantly raising these discussions they were encourag-j ing a revival of the elements of mischief in India, which the deportations had done so much to abate.
