NEW ZEALAND CRICKET COUNCIL.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 18. At a meeting of the Managing Committee of the New Zealand Council held yesterday, the secretary said he had received a letter fr.om the South African Cricket Association relating to his inyitating the S,oiith African team, which will be visitingl, Australia m 1910----1911, to play a series of matches m New Zealand. The letter thanked the Council for the. invitation, which was much appreciated, but seated that nothing definite Had been arranged between the Association and the Australian Board of Control. Reference had been made tp tjie visit of the South African team to Australia, but the matter had been left over for discussion at the Triangular ' Conference to be held at Lords this summer, and the South African Association would therefore be glad if the New Zealand Association would allow the invitation to stand over till after the conference, when they would be glad to enter into negotiations for a visit to New Zealand. A letter was also received by the secretary from the Australian Board of Control, stating that it would be possible to arrange for a visit of the second eleven of Australia to New Zealand next season, if the date agreed upon would enable the team to go homo m the beginning of December. It was resolved to ask the Board of Control, if possible, to arrange the proposed visit to start m the beginning of December, the team returning to Australia m about the second week m January. It was decided, also to ask the affiliated associations to assist m financing the tour of the Australian team to New Zealand next season, on lines similar to those 'on which the Marylebone visit was carried ouii.
