Per Press Association—Copyright. Received June 18, 10.55 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 18. James Barbour, well known as a cross-country rider, died from injuries received while schooling a horse at Flemington.

News was received by the police this afternoon that two girls named Collier had been killed at Putaruru, having been run over by a railway truck during shunting operations. CHitISTCHURCH; June 18. A tramway passenger named Connell, living at-Addington, fell off a car last night at the corner of South belt and Selwyn street. On being picked up it was found that his head was cut about and one arm broken, and the man was taken to the hospital for treatment. "While working at a planing mill at Mr J. Forbes's, Cast, Mr W. T. Harmaii, of Rangiora, had the little finger of his right hand taken off. Sometime ago he hud the same finger of the other hand taken off m a bicycle chain. A Richmond steam car collided with a cab m Stanmore road to-night, and knocked down a man named T. Bell, who was talking to the cab-driver at the time. Bell was somewhat seriously injured, and was taken to the hospital, suffering from concussion of the brain. TIMARTJ, June 18. Mr John Lurnley Manning, a fisherman and an old identity, was drowned early this morning. Deceased had just finished laying his nets m Caroline Bay when (it is presumed) a squall struck the boat. The body was left by the receding tide a foot from the northern breakwater.
